Ballari kanaka Durgamma Temple Sidibandi's Fare (jatra) Bullacart Ride. Cowl Bazar, Bellary 2025.

Ballari kanaka Durgamma Temple Sidibandi's Fare (jatra) Bullacart Ride. Cowl Bazar, Bellary. Sri Kanaka Duragamma Sidi Bandi festival will be held here on 11th March 2025. An idol, symbolising evil, is hung on a pole with hooks, and tied to a cart pulled by three pairs of bullocks, and taken round the temple thrice. A large number of people from across the district and elsewhere attend the event. The Bellary District Sajjanara Ganigara Sangha has been in the forefront in organising the “sidi bandi utsav”. “The Ganiga community, after the downfall of the Vijayanagar empire, settled in Bellary for some time before migrating to other nearby places. The Durgamma temple was built a few generations ago. The Ganiga community was supplying oil for the lamp that was to be lit in front of the principal deity, besides bearing some routine expenses of the temple. The annual ‘sidi bandi utsav' is also being held between Mahasihvaratri and the full moon day. The dates for the utsav are fixed by the community leader,” N. Ramesh Babu, who drives the first pair of bullocks, said. According to him, due to financial constraints, the community handed over the management of the temple to the Hindu Religious Endowment Department in the 1970s, but continued to organise the fair. Along with the Ongole bullocks, which are robust and very popular, purchased by Mr. Babu for the festival,. and another pair from the city corporation, the third pair that arrives from Siruguppa, about 60 km away. These three pairs of bullocks will be taken in a procession from Cowl Bazar area to the Durgamma temple. On February 28 evening, the ‘sidi bandi' event is held, according to Y. Sudhakar, joint secretary of the sangha. All necessary arrangements are being made to ensure that the devotees could have a good darshan of the deity. People from across Bellary district and other places will participate. Event is being traditionally organised by the association of Ganiga community. #BallariRiderAvinash #kanakaDurgammaTemple #sidibandi #Ballari #bellary #kanakaDurga #BellaryDurgammaSidi #bellari #bellary #BELLARY #Bellarystreet #railway #Helmet #hampifood #hospet #hampiturism #bellarians #nammabellary #karnataka #AvinashBallariRider #karnatakaturism #TBDam #hydrabadkarnataka #tungabhadra #hampi #kampli #sandur #kudligi #siruguppa #jswsteels #toranagallu #kuditini #anegundi #sanapur #hospete_troll #ballaridaries  #explore #ka34 #Royalcircle #MothiCircle #kanakaammadurgatemple #avinashballaririder #BallariRider
