Here is the first OO Gauge model train review video to come of 2025 and a great start with this all new Cavalex Models OO Gauge Class 60 Diesel Locomotive in the DB Cargo "Steel On Steel" livery as 60062, named as "Sonia". 60062 started off its days with British Rail in 1991 and was originally named as "Samuel Johnson" in the BR Petroleum livery and then Transrail. In 1997, EWS took it over in that year which around 2002 it was painted into EWS colours but lost its nameplates in the process. In 2007, EWS was taken over by DB Schenker. In 2012, 60062 was one of the 20 lucky Class 60's to become a "Super 60" that DB Schenker/DB Cargo refurbished and 60062 in 2012 was then named "Stainless Pioneer" until it was repainted in 2022 into this "Steel On Steel" livery and renamed as "Sonia" (what's in this name then?). 60062 is still with DB Cargo at this time but it is currently one of the 5 Class 60's they have not sold on. This all new and super awesome Cavalex models example is how 60062 still is in its present state and this model is loaded with many exclusive features and has cab lights that is a most welcome function and I believe that there are also engine room lights as well but I only have the DCC ready model so it could be just limited as a DCC only function. The model has the C4 drive system that is the outer axles on each truck being driven whilst the central axle is not driven but is powered. Despite this, the model locomotive is more than capable of pulling long trains on most model railways and if pushed, it could pull about 60-65 wagons on tap. I personally like to support indie companies like Cavalex Models, Accurascale, Scaletrains etc as they all do offer something nice in their ranges. In truth, this OO Gauge Class 60 from Cavalex Models even puts my O Gauge Class 60's to shame as despite these models being smaller, they boast more detail. I would love to see Cavalex Models do this model in N gauge in the future. It would be a winner I am sure. I have plans to get more of these new Class 60's but it will be BR era ones because I mainly cover 1983 to 1997 BR era so I can enjoy the best of both but this one will be staying on as either a display model or one to visit friends layouts with in the future. I cannot find anything negative to say about this one and I count myself lucky to get my example with no issues. So thank you Cavalex Models, really appreciate this one. Overall Rating: 10/10.
