Schnellfahrstrecke Köln is one of the older German routes in Train Sim World, having been released in 2020. In February 2026, it got an upgrade with TOD4 lighting (and other improvements) to complement the timetable update of October 2025, but there are certain aspects of the so-called ‘remaster’ that make me wonder why Dovetail Games marketed it as a full remaster in the first place. In other words, I agree with those who think the Schnellfahrstrecke Köln remaster doesn’t meet the same high standard set by the Great Western Express remaster (and that too was a free update). For reference, the route runs for 70 kilometres from Köln Hauptbahnhof to Aachen Hauptbahnhof, complete with the BR442 ‘Talent 2’ and BR406 ‘ICE-3M’ electric multiple units. There’s also a separately-sold S-Bahn Köln BR423 (which is essentially just a clone of the S-Bahn München variant with a few decal changes), and lots of other German add-ons have layers on Köln to Aachen in timetable mode. #trainsimworld6 #videogames #germantrains #deutschebahn #sbahn #gamereview #köln #colognegermany #icetrain
