Vijay KUMAR – Advisor (retired) to the Government of Andhra Pradesh, and Rythu Sadhikara Samstha - The experience of the Andhra Pradesh Community managed natural farming (A.P.C.N.F) 8 November 2021: How to concretely put agroecology at the heart of programming? Vijay Kumar holds an MBA in Management Studies (1977) and was a Physics honour student. In 1983 he joined the Government of India in the cadre of the Indian Administrative Service in Andhra Pradesh (A. P.). He spent a record 10 years, 2000 to 2010 as CEO of the Society for the elimination of Rural Poverty (S.E.R.P) in A.P and led the mobilizing and empowerment of 11.5 million rural poor women through thrift and credit-based self-help groups (SHGs) and their federations. From 2010 to 2015, he was the first Mission Director of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (N.R.L.M), Govt of India. He has carried the lessons of SERP to the national level, with the aim of mobilising 100 million rural women through SHGs and federations. He returned to the Govt. of A. P. in April 2015 as Special Chief Secretary, Agriculture Dept. After his retirement in 2016 he was appointed Adviser to Govt, Agriculture Dept. For the past 5 years, he has been leading the Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS) - Andhra Pradesh Community-Managed Natural Farming as Executive Vice-Chairman; covering 700,000 farmers and farm workers with a vision to help all 6 million farmers and 2 million farm workers transition to natural farming by 2030. - https://apcnf.in/
