Be patient breaking in a new pipe - take your time, smoke it slowly & cool, and give the new pipe plenty of rest between smokes, and this method should work great for you ... As always, use a soft flame lighter (like a Bic, Zippo, or matches) & only touch the flame to the tobacco with a light touch ... Sit back, relax, enjoy the pipe slowly & your pipe will love you for it LOL Within about a week, the pipe should have a carbonized bowl & you should be able to smoke anything in it without an issue
