On Wednesday, pro-Trump extremists stormed the U.S. Capitol, bypassing security, and breaking into the building after Congress convened for the electoral college vote certification for Joe Biden. The coup attempt prompted lawmakers to duck for cover, journalists to evacuate, and cities to enforce curfews. The violent riots resulted in five deaths -- one police officer who was fatally injured, one person who was shot, and three who had medical emergencies. Prof. Amos Guiora from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah joined ABC4's Rosie Nguyen on the CW30 News at 7 p.m. for an IN FOCUS discussion about failures and lack of security preparation by federal officials. Dr. LaShawn Williams, Social Work Assistant Professor at Utah Valley University discussed the continuing issue of systemic racism and racial inequality from Wednesday's riots. Chris Burbank, former Chief of the Salt Lake City Police Department and Vice President for the Center for Policing Equity shared his perspective and take on the situation as someone with decades of law enforcement experience.
