One hundred and seventy four Nigerians have been selected from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Intelligence Agency by the Federal Government to be groomed as diplomats. The participants of the 26th Regular Course of the Foreign Service Academy are to be equipped with the necessary skills, character and mentorship to represent the country well both within and outside the country. Inaugurating the 26th regular course at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria in Abuja, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu while counseling the aspiring Nigerian diplomats, warned them against involving in any act that would be inimical to Nigeria's global. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador, Dunoma Ahmed and other key stakeholders spoke on ways to enhance the nation's diplomatic stances in line with the Federal Government's 4Ds policy. The Director, Foreign Service Academy, Chimezie Ogu highlighted some challenges responsible for poor output of carrier diplomats. Training modules for the 26th Regular Course of the Foreign Service Academy involves: preparation of memos for principals, report writing, conference studies, diplomatic skills and ethics, international relations studies, diplomacy, language studies and negotiation skills among others.
