May, the most awaited month of the year. A month that brings smiles to many faces. It is the advent of the monsoons, which is the source of life to all the floral and faunal life on earth. Rejoicing this beautiful month, the AIAIA Kanpur Branch organised it’s first May King/Queen Ball Dance and Pound Party at St. Joseph Church, N2 Road, Lal Bunglow, Kanpur on the 30th of May, 2022. The reporting time was 7pm. All reached the venue dressed in their most glamourous attire. The elders could be seen sharing memories from yesteryears, while the youth could be seen capturing precious moments through selfies and not to forget the kids that were running about in the hall room, having a gala time. The event began with a prayer and blessings by Rev.Fr. Francis Xavier, Parish Priest of St. Joseph Church. Thereafter, the handsome boys and beautiful girls exhibited their modelling and dancing skills. There was a vibe of excitement and curiosity amongst the members to know the results. Under the able judgement of Mr. Jonathan Shear, Mr. Rodney Kerr and Mr. Clayton Bellettythe May King, May Queen and the Runners-up were selected. Mark Naher won the title of May King. There was a tie between Rose Attwell and Irene Attwell for the May Queen title. Due to shortage of time and by the decision of the committee the winner was selected by tossing a coin, through which Irene Attwell won the title of May Queen. Clive Shear was the May King runner-up and Rosy Attwell the May Queen runner-up. The winners were crowned and given a gift hamper by Mr. Walter Belletty Mr. Patrick Naher, the senior most members of the branch. Soon after the results were declared, the snacks and cold drinks were distributed. Two games of housie were alsoconducted. The celebration ended by the Hon. President Mrs. Gloria Marston thanking everyone for their contributions, time and cooperation. Finally, all parted with a spark of a better future in the eyes and with hopes to meet again with something new and creative.
