This week marks a huge turning point in our farmhouse renovation — we finally start work on our DIY limecrete floor! And yes, it involves walking on actual broken glass (sort of). Annie Lennox might not have had eco-friendly underfloor insulation in mind, but here we are... We received our biggest materials delivery yet, transforming the farm from a rubbish dump into a proper building site. Of course, no week on the farm is without its challenges — from heatwaves and unexpected stonework to curious dogs and blocked streams. Outside, we finally tackled the overgrown back field and began sorting the drainage issues with some good old-fashioned manual labour (no diggers, just stubborn Scottish women!). It was sweaty, muddy, and completely satisfying — and this first layer of the floor is a huge step toward creating a warm, dry, breathable home using traditional and sustainable methods. — 👣 Featuring:• Our DIY limecrete floor install• Glapor glass aggregate explained• Tackling drainage in the back field• More mud, mistakes & family help 📍 Renovating a 100+ year old Welsh farmhouse🐶 Co-starring: Seren, heatwave chaos & a cream jumper tragedy 🎥 New videos every other week – subscribe to follow our renovation journey from city to smallholding! We have a huge challenge on our hands as the property and the land all need a full renovation after lying empty for 6 years but as we spent everything we had on the move, we will be doing all the work ourselves. This is a life time project though, so we have time to figure it all out!
