The SMPTE Philadelphia December Section meeting was presented live, online on 12/09/2021, as a technology update and presented by George Klippel, LiveU's Director of Channel Sales on the topic of “REMI Production: The New Production Workflow Model”. REMI or Remote Integration Model and is a production workflow that allows content to be streamed from anywhere and managed from a central location. REMI workflows maintain all the key production elements you’d find in a standard broadcast. REMI workflows, however, have a significant advantage over a traditional production approach. By leveraging a central control room, you can decrease your setup time and simplify the on-site technology needed. In addition, REMI workflows allow certain technical and editorial functions to happen remotely, reducing or eliminating travel costs. Finally, REMI productions offer the ability to decrease your on-site infrastructure, thus reducing your overall costs. George will discuss this and give examples of how it works. Presenter: George Klippel is the Director of Channel Sales for LiveU. He holds over 30 years of experience in broadcast television, post-production, higher-education and corporate sectors. Prior to LiveU, George was a Strategic Account Manager and spearheaded Avid’s Education initiative for video products. He also was a Partner Account Manager for North America and oversaw resellers and distributors who sold Avid’s video product line. Previously, George was responsible for classroom technology and the distributed education experience at Carnegie Mellon University and Case Western Reserve University. George also worked as a freelance editor and cameraman with the Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers. George lives in Pittsburgh with his wife and cheers on his hometown Steelers on game day.
