Roland TD-50X 'Kit of the Week', featuring Vexpression and Drum-Tec sound packs

Yes kids, it’s time for another “Kit of the week”!! This kit is called “Funky”. I added a bit of additional EQ, compression and reverb from the board, and did my own tweaks, but this is not too far away from how the kit components sound ‘as is’. This is a bit of a ‘Frankenstein’ kit, and it shows what you can do when you copy/paste components from your other kits. I often copy & paste snares, kicks and toms, and cymbal packs from various kits into a blank ‘user kit’ to make a new combo such as this. The kick, main snare, hat and the crash/rides are from Vexpression’s ‘Arsenal’ pack for the TD-50X. I modeled the aux snare to complement the main snare. The toms are from Drum-Tec’s “Real Acoustics” pack. Check out the rim sounds on the rack toms! I added some muffling to the Toms, and I altered the rim of the floor, too. LOVE this kit! Love the dryness of the snare and kick, but then I love how the toms open and resonate. Love the dark trashy cymbals. I added a sizzler to the ride, just to give the kit some additional character.
