Senior Pastor George Hinman reflects on the good news of Jesus that makes us more like Jesus. The problem is we can find ourselves developmentally stuck in our Christian growth. In America today, we too often find "born again" Christians who bear little resemblance to Jesus Christ (that's us too). The Apostle Paul invites us to carefully choose the family that forms us. Pete Scazzaro says*, "Jesus may live in your heart, but Grandpa lives in your bones." We need to wrestle with those rules and beliefs inherited from our family of origin and let Jesus replace them with his grace and truth. God's promise breaks the power of our past. —Challenge: Identify two unbiblical "rules" from your family of origin, write them down, and next to them, write a promise from God. Need help?
