Flower of Scotland, one of the most powerful and emotional Scottish patriotic songs, performed here on the Great Highland Bagpipes with drum accompaniment. The song was written in the 1960s by Roy Williamson of the folk group The Corries. The lyrics refer to the victory of the Scots over the English army at the Battle of Bannockburn led by Robert the Bruce. Today Flower of Scotland is widely regarded as an unofficial national anthem of Scotland and is famously sung by tens of thousands of fans before Scottish international rugby and football matches. This performance features traditional Scottish bagpipes and drum accompaniment. I am an ex-British military piper now living in Germany, performing Scottish bagpipe music for ceremonies and events across Europe.
