Majora's Mask - Freeing the 4 Giants and Helping Everyone in One 3 Day Cycle Without Song of Soaring

[READ DESCRIPTION] Recently, I was inspired by an adaptation to do what is called the "Perfect Cycle", where Link frees the 4 Giants from the Temples and helps everyone who is in need in one 3 Day Cycle WITHOUT using the Song of Soaring. With how often I play the game, I admittedly never truly thought about this so I decided to reciprocate the challenge in the actual game. My definition of the Perfect Cycle is to rescue the Four Giants from the Temples, help everyone* featured in the game's 100% credits and Bomber's Notebook, and help those who provide an item, such as a Mask, in gratitude to Link for solving their problem. Everyone* doesn't mean everyone. I cannot protect the Bomb Shop's Old Lady from Sakon and I cannot have Anju's Grandmother read me a story. In the former, Anju and Kafei will never reunite before the end. In the latter, the time jumps will make me miss time-sensitive events. And besides, we're not "helping" her when she reads to Link about the Carnival/Four Giants, even though she's in the Bomber's Notebook. Without the Inverted Song of Time, a full 3 day Cycle takes 55 minutes, which makes this challenge impossible with my restrictions. With it active, I have about 2.76 hours to do everything possible... in theory. Saving Romani Ranch from Them, defending Cremia from the Gorman Brothers, and retrieving the stolen Sun's Mask with Kafei forces me to remain in the area with them. And of course, unless I make the Moon crash, I start the First Day at 6:01am instead of exactly 6am. So my real time limit is about 2.414 hours with Inverted Song of Time active at all times. A 12% reduction but it is what it is. I did this playthrough on Nintendo Switch Online, using the N.S.O. N64 Controller, instead of the Nintendo Wii, which is what I usually play on when I replay Majora's Mask and my other Virtual Console games. I knew this version had input lag from reports online but I wanted to experience what people (typically speedrunners) had to say about it, and yeah, they were right. Thankfully, it didn't totally affect my experience since I wasn't doing frame perfect inputs all the time. Plus, I was feeling totally nostalgic about using the N64 controller on official Nintendo hardware. (Yes, I do have an emulator installed on my pc but that's for games I can't play because my actual N64 is basically dead) It took me three attempts to do this. My first attempt, I severely underestimated how much time is wasted with backtracking. And it didn't help that I followed the game's intended route to clear the Four Giants and well... it became the Night of the Final Day as I just entered the Stone Tower Temple so I was forced to restart. In my 2nd attempt, my new goal was to minimize the backtracking so I changed my route to help micromanage time-consuming tasks such as the Spider Houses and other context-sensitive issues of the Compass Directions. I was on pace to be perfect but I forgot a Stray Fairy in Snowhead Temple. At this point, it was 3pm on the Final Day. I had no time to backtrack the whole temple fully so I had to give up that run. I permitted myself to have 3 uses of the Song of Soaring after my 1st failed attempt but I never needed to use it once in this attempt. It was very tempting though. I used all 3 due to my stupid decisions in my 2nd attempt however. This challenge is one of the reasons why I haven't uploaded anything in the past month of December 2025. That, and real life work during the Christmas season was very grueling.
