Hi folks, . I set myself a time limit for this piece. 3 hours. The purpose of this is to study tones and shapes. I purposefully give myself a set time so I can make quick and decisive decisions. I find that a little bit of pressure from setting a time limit stops my mind from running away with itself which can create a state of over thinking and more importantly overworking the subject, and for me it is an invaluable study. I've posted this on YouTube as a time-lapse....for now. My goal is to try and make painting as cheap as possible for people. What you see here is a wall easel, a lot less space is taken up and allows you to work in a very small area. The area I work in is only 7 x 7 feet. On the easel is a cork board that has been glued to an MDF board. It has been covered in a grey self adhesive paper but this grey paper is only for filming purposes. You won't need it just to paint. I pin cut canvases to the cork board and paint. Once the painting is finished and relatively dry I then clip these paintings to another board. On this clip board I can fit at least 30 paintings and this only takes up the space of one painting. It's a very cheap and practical set-up and allows you to work in a very small area. Most importantly it allows you to practice and practice until your wee heart is content.
