Transcribe: We're sometimes asked what the difference is between a bump cap like this and an industrial cap like this. Now the industrial cap, or hard hat as some people refer to it as, is designed to provide a level of protection to the wearer from falling objects. So underneath the shell of the cap, there's a suspension harness inside which is pretty effective in providing a level of cushioning of the blow from a falling object. This one is covered by Australian Standard 1801. Now the baseball cap style bump cap is not covered by an Australian Standard and it's not designed to protect the wearer against falling objects. It is however useful... Let's say you're a maintenance person, and there's no risk of something falling on your head from above, like a dropped object. But you're crawling around say under some pipes and you might just lift up your head and bump your head into the pipe above you. It would be really useful for that purpose. Inside the cap there's a plastic shell. There's a bit of foam on the top for a bit of comfort but aside from that it's just a thin plastic shell that provides a level of protection.
