#computer #networking #diy 🖥️ Today we continue our series on the home lab by building a computer, but not just any computer a NAS or network attached storage. This will be a two part video with this first installment going over the hardware and putting it all together to build a computer. By following along you can build your very own personal cloud for storage and you can even use NAS software to add on more services such as Plex. We selected the Intel N100 processor not only for its low power draw but also for its ability to easily transcode Plex streams. 🔗 Links to the products I used - https://www.amazon.com/shop/hillphant... 📹 If you are not familiar with what a home lab is check out my past videos 🎞️ Building your own home lab - • Building Your Own Home Lab. A server you can keep all your files in a central location and share them both inside and outside of you network. 🚨Today we walk though part one of this series and we physically build out a computer or NAS. We gather up all the parts, and slap it into this really nice case by the folks at Jonsbo N2. Sure you could buy your own NAS, from folks like synology but you often times overpay for the hardware you get in those machines which most of the time can be quite under powered and leave you with only a few options in regards to software. By building you own Network Attached Storage server you will not only be able to control what software you put on, but you will be able to decided why kind and type of hardware you want to use. We also check out the sweet new NAS Case by Jonsbo called the N2. This case has the ability to take up to 5 spinning hard drives and has space for two M.2 MVME drives. The case is of super quality metal and is rather easy to use and build. We put in two 12 TB hard drives I found refurbished, and this will give us a great start to set up RAID or UNRAID in our next video. ⚠️ After we get this thing together and tested we will move on to what software we are going to use in part 2 so be sure to like, subscribe and hit the bell button so you are updated as to when we launch part 2.
