Samanden village is a beautiful scenic hamlet in the remote part of Darjeeling. In this video we will show you how to visit the Silent Valley. Samanden valley is located at a distance of 1 KM away from Gorkhey village. Samanden to Srikhola is not connected by the motorable road and trekking through dense forest is the only option to get there. The distance from Srikhola to Samanden village is 15 kms. There are only few local families residing in Samandin village and they are mostly depended on agriculture. People also call it Samandan valley because of the picturesque landscape of this village. Samanden is surrounded by the pine forest, well decorated houses and beautiful farmland. Samanden West Bengal is often called The Silent Valley due to its natural beauty as it is situated inside Singalila National Park. Samandin can be reached through different trekking trail. The nearest points for the vehicles to reach are Phalut, Ramam and Ribdi. If you are planning for Gorkhey tour then you can choose to stay at Samanden alternatively. There are few homestays at Samanden otherwise there is a Gorkhey GTA trekkers hut and many other Gorkhey homestay available where you can plan your night stay. While you trek from Srikhola to Sandakphu route via Phalut you will have to pass through Samanden and Gorkhey Village. If you are coming for Sandakphu Phalut trekking then you can exit to NJP via Bhareng or Ribdi in Sikkim other than choosing Gorkhey to Srikhola trek route.
