What is Supply Planning? Supply Chain Basics

WHAT IS SUPPLY PLANNING? In today’s episode, we are going to discuss “WHAT IS SUPPLY PLANNING?” This is all part of our Learning Logistics series where we discuss the basic Supply Chain and Logistics concepts. I covered the definition of logistics and demand planning in earlier episodes, so feel free to go back to those for a quick recap. In this episode we will discuss supply planning, which goes hand in hand with demand planning. Supply planning is the component of supply chain management involved with determining how to best fulfill the requirements created from the demand plan. The objective is to balance supply and demand in a manner that achieves the financial and service objectives of an organization. It’s a component of Supply and Operations Planning (S&OP) process. It also includes some of the financial and business goals of the organization.
