As such, I decided to create an arrangement for the extremely catchy OP, Mellow by Keina Suda. Please enjoy! As with all my videos, the arrangements are all completely original. ( •̀ ω •́ )✧ If there are any slipups, please forgive me! ===================================== ~~ MUSIC ANALYSIS ~~ *Do note that in bar 17 of the sheet music, the right hand sixteenths should gradually become faster and faster (i.e. thirty-secondths, etc) instead of being even. This arrangement can essentially be classified as an anime piano study, or étude - the left hand is by far the hardest part of learning this arrangement, and needs to practiced very slowly and evenly. The hardest part about actually playing this arrangement is the speed and evenness needed for the fast tempo along with testing your endurance. The main challenge about arranging this song were the overlying melodies in the original piece, especially the violin and strings - many overlapped with the main melody, which could take away the main focus of the piece. As such, I tried to arrange it in a way where the tune could be the main focus while still having beautiful overlapping melodies surrounding it. In the refrain for example, I use strong octaves for the melody and higher pitched overlapping melodies. I had a lot of fun writing the verses, as I had to emulate the plucking of a guitar's strings. The beat was divided more as a 7/8 meter than a 4/4 one, and I tried to strongly emphasize those catchy beats while still maintaining the mellow vibe (get it?). For the verse before the last refrain, I let the right hand carry two simultaneous main melodies at once with a catchy left hand around 2:57. This I feel was the best way to arrange that particular part, as without both the melodies at once part of the original effect may have been lost. By far my favourite parts are the arpeggios at 2:40 and the rapid octaves at 3:37 leading to the climax. The arpeggios were my stylistic addition and I thought it fit in very well with the melodies. The rapid octaves emulate the fast scales of the violins - as my hands are not that large, I had to use a 1-5 fingering for all of them. Apologies if there are any slips there.
