The Living Legend of Korsnäs (Trailer with English subtitles)

This is the trailer of a 58 min documentary film about Joel Lenlund,a 92 years old man from the Finnish coastal town of Korsnäs, a Swedish speaking municipality situated at the west coast of Finland. Joel was born, raised and lived all his life there and he's considered a living legend in this area. He has experienced first hand all big and challenging changes in his area which have filled him up with great memories that he's sharing in the film. Throughout his long life he has worked in many occupational fields starting as a brick layer but his main and most favourite work was fishing.He knows also from experience how the land uplift phenomena have affected life and the habitation in the area. Moreover, he keeps a sharp memory of customs and traditions in the whole region. This film aims to document at list some of them. Joel has made an important contribution in the development of his town. For instance,at the local folk museum in Korsnäs, he has renovated the old bakery building turning in to a great exhibition room of local folk textile and traditional fabric treasures. In addition, under Joel's initiative was created a fine nature path surrounding the museum's area, all through voluntarily work by members of his established association and some support from European Union. The path was inaugurated in 2004 and today stands as an important cultural asset of the museum for Korsnäs town and the municipality as a whole. Despite his advanced age Joel enjoys very good health today, both physically and mentally. According to him, he owns that mainly to his fish diet and the fact that most of his working life he spent outdoors. The sea is and has always been Joel´s favourite place on the earth. It has given him sustenance as well as adventures and enjoyment in his long life...This documentary film took 3 years to complete and it's produced under Wildlife Vaasa Festival's media education projects in 2013-2014. The film will be premiered at the Korsnäs Library on March 31st 2014
