For over two years, Ngarrimili has collaboratively designed and created a First Nations Business, Arts, Hospitality, and Retail Hub on Wadawurrung Country, providing a culturally safe space for community, economic participation, and business support in Geelong. Check out Murran online : www.murran.com.au Visit at 143-157 Malop St, Geelong In December 2023, we invited partners, friends, family and the local community to celebrate the opening of Murran. The space was blessed with a Welcome To Country and smoking ceremony from Traditional Owner Corina Eccles, officially opened by local member Chirstine Couzens MP, and we heard from our CEO Bek Lasky and co-founder & Director Cormach Evans and the event was MC'ed by Jirra Lulla. Murran is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business, retail and arts hub on Wadawurrung Country, in the heart of the Geelong CBD. Consisting of a retail store, gallery, co-working space, meeting rooms and conference rooms, Murran will provide education and training, business start-up support and development, employment, and economic development opportunities to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. It is the first of its kind in Australia and a pilot for Ngarrimili to replicate in different locations (tailored to the community needs). Murran will increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander economic participation, training and employment, whilst contributing to the cultural framework of the wider region by authentically celebrating and sharing Aboriginal culture with the Greater Geelong community.
