Camp Tecson, San Miguel, Bulacan September 15, 2016 After the Capability Demonstration, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte motored to the covered court of the First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSRR) to talk to the troops assigned at Camp Tecson in San Miguel, Bulacan. In his keynote address, the President expressed his need for the military to fulfill both of his and their duties in protecting the country. “…If you really want to help your country, now is the time to do it na ako ‘yung presidente…Ngayon na, kasi suportado ko kayong lahat,” he said. In the course of his visits to military camps and other facilities of law enforcers, the Commander-in-Chief outlined his measures to improve the welfare of the uniformed men, such as providing additional snipers and Glock-30 caliber 45 pistols to all scout rangers of FSRR. These would be distributed within the month of September. The President once again reiterated that he has doubled the salaries of both the armed forces and the police, and has pushed for the repair and upgrading of facilities of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center (AFPMC) in Quezon City. He also expressed hopes for the implementation of free education for the soldiers’ children from kindergarten to high school in 2017. Tackling his administration’s war against illegal drugs, President Duterte encouraged all the law enforcers to keep doing their jobs in apprehending drug users and pushers as instructed to them. “In accordance with my order, I will assume full legal responsibility and I will go to jail…that is the guarantee that I can give,” he said. The President showed a folder with the names of suspected drug users and pushers, most of who are public servants, to convey how drug use has worsened in the Philippines. “Please take care of the country. I am doing this because I’m trying to save the next generation,” he added.
