This is the fifth video in my "Wilderness Machinist" challenge series to handcraft a remote-controlled aluminum excavator. In this episode, I'll be making a hydraulic directional control valve and a pressure relief valve out of aluminum for an RC model. The directional control valve is designed to support three sets of hydraulic cylinders, and a pressure gauge is also fabricated and tested along with all the parts. I also solved the hydraulic pump air bubble problem left over from the last video. The prototype for this RC excavator is the Sany SY1350H large excavator, built to a 1:24 scale. The main structural components are made from aluminum, with other parts being crafted from POM or 3D-printed. The finished model measures nearly 600 millimeters long. The video will showcase the machining process for the key components of the directional control valve, including: Manifold: Machining the oil outlet holes and return oil passages.
