I finally got to check out the Piper Cheyenne 400LS — one of the most interesting turboprops ever built. Only 44 of these were made, and honestly, it’s not something you see every day. Powered by Garrett TPE331‑14GR engines, this aircraft cruises at around 350 KTAS and can climb up to FL410, putting it in light‑jet territory — but with turboprop efficiency. You can actually own an aircraft with jet-like performance for just a bit over $1 million. The Cheyenne 400LS gives you speeds and altitude that rival early jets, but without the crazy operating costs. And yes — this exact aircraft is currently on the market for around $1.1M USD. With an estimated hourly operating cost of about $1,000, it runs at roughly a third of what you’d spend flying a comparable light jet.
