Russell Hall - bass Nathan Graybeal - alto saxophone Loreto Pelayo, Jr. - guitar Josh Herrera - drums One of the most exciting parts for me when inviting people to Belize is seeing how they play over the different tunes I select that aren't standards -- especially the video game music. This particular tune, of course, is Mabe Village from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. For both of the gigs we did while Russell was here, we never did a rehearsel, so the music was fresh and a surprise for me. I remember at this point it in this, I was awe-struck by Russell's playing that I often just was hesistant to comp for him. I feel like listening to Russell talk about music and see how he lived his life daily while he was here was a pivotal point for my development. I hope to have him back later this year, and hopefully I'm more confident comping behind him! Recorded at The Banks, Hummingbird Highway, Belize on 02/07/2025.
