DEVIL'S THUMB Hike (4K) - Lake Louise - Banff National Park

Having already done a few other scrambles this week we decided on a smaller objective and one close to where we were camping. We picked Devil's Thumb overlooking Lake Louise and Lake Agnes Teahouse. What we didn't expect was the amazing cloud inversion that we were treated to. This is a straightforward hike with very minor hands-on scrambling. That being said the rewards pay off with minimal effort to get here. You will have to wade through the crowds from Lake Louise up to the teahouse, however after that, the crowds thin out and a nice hike awaits to give you some truly spectacular views. Disclaimer - Always scramble within your own abilities. Thoroughly assess the situation and research the route. Just because I may have done this route at this time doesn't mean you can or should. GPS and/or a topo map are a valuable tool to help. Leave a route description behind with exact location should you not arrive home at a predetermined time. Have a way to contact rescue as well if you are in an area of no cell service(SPOT, Garmin, etc.). Also, if hiking in winter make sure you have the necessary skill and knowledge regarding unstable conditions and perform a proper risk assessment prior to engaging in this activity.
