The rapid development seen in Bharatpur — including infrastructure, roads, health services, and urban management — is largely credited to Renu Dahal’s tenure. This development remains her biggest electoral strength. Additionally, her father, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ lends her significant national-level influence. However, this connection also subjects her to criticism of being a ‘nepo kid’ (nepotism). On the other side, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has rapidly become the most talked-about political force in Nepal. The party won two constituencies in Chitwan in 2022 (Chitwan-1 and 2), and despite setbacks due to political alliances, it has a strong grassroots following in Chitwan-3 as well. If we look at the proportional representation vote in Chitwan-3 during the last election, RSP secured the highest votes — 28,401 votes.
