Hanok has a characteristic that it is difficult to be preserved for a long time because it is built of wood and soil except for the foundation stone, but this old house is relatively well preserved and retains the appearance of a frugal aristocrat (dominant class of Joseon society). During the Joseon Dynasty, Yangban houses are usually divided into Sarangchae (a place where the head of the family lives and welcomes guests), Anchae (a place where the wife lives), and Haengrangchae (a place where the slaves live), and this house consists of the same form.
