Tune: Auld Lang Syne - All Glory Be To Christ Lord, you have been our dwelling place. Before the earth had frame from everlasting you are God, to endless years the same. And yet you turn us back to dust; the ages in your sight Are but as yesterday gone by, short as a watch at night. You sweep us all away like dreams that vanish with the dawn; Like grass that springs up with the sun and by the night is gone. For by your anger we’re consumed, and by your wrath o’erthrown. Our guilt cannot be hid from you; our secret sins are known. Our lives may last for many years, we do not know our day, And they are filled with toil and pain, and soon we fly away. How can we know your anger’s pow’r? Your wrath that terrifies? So teach us how to count our days until our hearts are wise. Return to us, O Lord, how long? That we may give you praise, And, by your steadfast love, be filled with gladness all our days. As many days as we have spent in trials sent from You, Now make us glad for equal days, and in us joy renew. To us, and to our children, Lord, your pow’r be manifest, And on the labor of our hands please may your favor rest.
