Five Winds ski day - Sunday, Feb 8th. While our group (Chester) was having lunch, we launched the drone to buzz Jim's group who was setting off from the other side of the lake after their lunch stop. Enjoy your time in the spotlight - you guys look like you're in a movie! Plus bonus footage of the bus arriving to pick us up at the end of the day. We were surprised by how many people we saw on McCrae Lake who were also out enjoying the sunshine, braving the cold west wind. Did you know that the yellow-blazed trail from the parking lot to Crow's Cliff was actually the very first trail built by the Five Winds club back in the early 1970s? It is now part of a 200 km network of trails maintained by Five Winds. Our founder Mike Naughton had this to say in his written history of the club: "Around McCrae Lake one is almost in danger of getting trampled to death by the many hundreds of people who go in from the highway or from Georgian Bay. On a fine weekend in the summer one can stand on the top of Crow's Cliff and spend all of ten minutes trying to count the many camps and boaters, and our well tramped trail gives mute evidence of the popularity of the area. But go in and walk along the Pipeline and Trappers trails on the north side of the river, and see how many people you run into!"
