Mk2 SEAT Leon Cupra R Throwback Review: Too Niche? Hello guys, welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome to another Throwback Review. This is the series in which I review cars from yesteryear to take you down memory lane. This time it's the turn of the Mk2 SEAT Leon Cupra R, a car that piques my interest as I own a Mk2 Leon Cupra (Non R) pre-facelift. The Leon Cupra R was only available for the facelift of the second generation, therefore you will never find a pre-facelift R because, well it was never made. It uses the same 2.0 turbocharged four cylinder petrol as the standard Cupra but of course, it has more power. Instead of offering 240hp along with 300Nm, the R betters this with 265hp and 350Nm of torque. 0-62 is dealt with in 6.2 seconds and the top speed is 155mph. This power is fed to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual and whilst there is no LSD, it does come with XDS to give some support through the corners.
