SINGLE BATCH - Basic Soap Recipe - single batch will fill one, 1.24L soap mold - double for two! Single Batch - will fill one soap mold. Double Batch - will fill two soap molds Ingredients: 450 g Olive Oil (any type olive oil is fine) 180 g Coconut Oil 180 g Shea Butter 90 g Castor Oil 315 g Water (tap is fine but I use distilled) 122 g Lye (aka Caustic Soda or Sodium Hydroxide) DIRECTIONS *Wearing protective gear, add the lye to the water. Stir. *Add all the oils to the lye and water mixture. Melt some of the harder oils in the microwave before hand if needed to soften so they combine easier into the mixture. *Mix with a stick blender until trace is reached. *Pour soap into the mold and tap it to level it off. *Cover with a cutting board and then place a towel over top of the cutting board, leave for 24-48 hours. *Turn out the soap from the mold and cut into bars. Leave in a well ventilated area for 1-2 months to cure. COVER YOUR SOAP - Let your soap rest in the soap mold for 1-2 days. I put a cutting board on top of the soap molds and then I cover the molds with a thick beach towel. After 1-2 days of letting the soap rest and cure, I turn out the soap from the mold. I cut the block of soap in to bars. Then I place the bars on a tray and cover with some parchment paper so dust doesn't settle on top or place in a box with a lid for a minimum of one month. Soap should be solid and dried right through. The longer the bar cures, the longer the bar will last.
