Duncan Bonnett, Director - Africa House discusses COVID-19, and the impact on infrastructure projects globally and in Africa. There are many opinions and speculation on the impact that COVID-19 is going to have. Whilst there is no doubt that there are disruptions to new-build infrastructure projects rights now, it might be a bit too soon to really understand the broader impact. Duncan talks across sectors, from ports, rail, oil and gas, among others - including donor funding and the changing priorities of Government during this time. One should not look at Africa as one entity, but each country individually – there are ongoing opportunities and Africa should be able to accelerate regional and domestic supply following this disruption. The supply base in South Africa is probably best positioned to mobilise when things normalise. Duncan has some great advice, enjoy!
