Recently during the busiest national holiday period in Japan, the Golden Week, we visited Nikko（日光） and it was crazily busy!! We devised a strategy to avoid the crowd got there really early, enjoyed the attractions peacefully and avoided the craziness especially at Toshogu (東照宮), with hours long queue for tickets!! As we left the place, there were hundreds of cars lining up to get into the parking at Toshogu! Be prepared to witness the mother of all traffic jam! We are a family on a sabbatical from our life in Perth Australia. We plan to travel and experience Japan as much as we can before returning home.
