President Donald Trump has announced all trade talks with Canada have been ‘terminated’ after the president saw a Canadian TV advert replaying Ronald Reagan’s criticism of tariffs. The advert, funded by the Canadian provincial government of Ontario, quoted former US President Reagan, who once warned that tariffs “hurt every American.” President Trump hit back on his social media platform Truth Social on Thursday (23 October), branding the advert “FAKE” and “egregious” and announcing that trade talks were “HEREBY TERMINATED.” But the advert is not fake.
