The video will review whether a PRP booster shot and injection for arthritis is necessary. PRP injections are an exciting new treatment option for common orthopedic conditions. We use it to treat problematic conditions involving the bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. And clinical trials continue to show that they are an extremely effective way of treating pain and reducing symptoms, especially when it comes to arthritis. It’s important to remember that no injection lasts forever. We need to regularly “dose” or administer PRP to help manage the underlying arthritis long term. By doing so, we can try to keep the internal environment of the knee as healthy as possible. This will prevent the buildup of inflammatory markers and prevent severe pain and symptoms. Most doctors recommend a PRP booster shot at around one year for knee arthritis and between 6 months and one year for hip arthritis. This is called maintenance therapy and the goal of maintenance therapy is to control arthritis and not let it flare up to cause symptoms. Remember, it’s better to be proactive with treatment rather than reactive. ► Things my patients have found helpful: Please note that I get a lot of requests and questions about what equipment is ‘best’ for treating a variety of conditions. The following is not meant to be an exhaustive or definitive list. Please use it as a starting point. If you have questions, please discuss with your healthcare provider. With that said, I have tried a number of the products below, but not all. I have included some based on positive feedback from many of my patients.
