The book itself is written as to demonize the Tantric Kaula Circle, a mysterious Yogini cult focused on attaining divinity and maximizing the pleasure of existence. But, the negative light of the book should be looked at as only one perspective. There are many perspectives that should be noted: The woman writing is seeing the east from a western perspective, using the western standards of societal norms, the perspectives of the lamas and their set of lenses used to look at the world; a dream or illusion in their eyes, and the perspective of those who come to worship and revere the lamas as incarnations of the divine. To get the most out of this book is to see these perspectives and how they make up the whole. There are many truths found within this text, and the listener/reader who is A student of the occult should take note of the various esoteric ideas presented. Towards the end of the story, in part 3, there is a manuscript titled: The Science of the Breath, which was presented to the author by a 'Yogi'. It is a list of the many aspects of the breath, and upon listening, prompts the reader to become more aware of such a subconscious action such as breathing. With the inclusion of The Science of the Breath to the book, it adds a conflicting view to the story presented. On the one hand, the author is warning readers to stay away from these strange practices, yet on the other, showcases A portion of the esoteric understanding of the breath passed down through the various lineages of Tibetan Yogis. If you have delved deep into the occult, this should be no surprise to you. Many of these esoteric and mystical texts that are written from the perspective of the left hand path are purposely written in a way as to frighten the reader. The texts like these hide many details under the surface of the myth or story.
