New 🏆 Merch - https://tinyurl.com/PS4Trophies . The Guardian Ape Boss fight in Sekiro Shadows Die Twice takes place in Sunken Valley Passage. This is a two stage boss fight. For the first part, Guardian Ape will perform many melee attacks. You want to make sure you are guarding or deflecting against them. As he continues the assault, there will be brief moments where he will tire out allowing you a moment to get a couple hits in. As long as you continue to guard, you just simply have to wait until he opens himself up to being attacked. Guardian Ape also has two unblockable attacks. The first and most common one is a sweeping hand grab. You must jump over this or risk getting severely low on health, even with full health. As soon as you see the red mark, jump. The second one is a little less common but easy to avoid. This is just a jump into the air and full belly slam on the ground. Very easy to just evade out of the impact area. I highly recommend using as many firecrackers as you have available allowing you brief openings for additional attacks. He also has a poison AOE that he farts out of his backside. If you get behind him, be careful of this attack and move out of range asap otherwise you'll get poisoned. Cure it with Antidote if you get poisoned but you should see it coming in enough time to evade out of the radius. Just guard against all his attacks, jump over his grab and hit him during all brief moments he let's up his attacks. Stay close for the entire duration. If he runs away, sprint to him. You don't need to force the issue. Just be patient and wait for your moments as you can just sit there and guard everything except for the grab and the belly slam. The second phase will see you going up against the headless Guardian Ape. During this time he emits a very deadly terror AOE. If you get terror, you can cure it with Mottled Purple Gourd which makes you more resistant to terror. The easiest strategy is just hand back a distance and wait for two moments that allow you to get some uncontested attacks in against the Guardian Ape. The first is when he charges at you and dives to the ground. He will do one small swing of his sword as falls to the ground. Jump over the sword and get in a couple easy attacks. Quickly back out of AOE range afterwards. The second opportunity is at the end of his multiple swing sword combo. Deflect all sword swings and occasionally he'll finish off the combo by raising his sword way above his head and slam it down to the ground to strike you. This is easily deflected. If you successfully deflect hit he will fall to the ground and you can get 4-6 easy hits in against Guardian Ape. Quickly back away afterwards. If he doesn't do his combo finisher, just stay back and wait for the next moment.
