We were able to remove the tumor completely. We're happy with the results of the MRI. Using intraoperative MRI technology helps us to remove tumors completely. When we see any residual left behind, and if we feel it would be still safe to go back in and remove it, so we usually do it under the same anesthesia, or if the patient is awake, we do it under the same sedation without actually leaving the operating room. [MRI scan of brain] [Doctor performing surgery] [Vitaly Siomin, M.D., Neurosurgeon] MRI technology is very helpful to see the brain directly during the procedure. Normally, we would operate in the operating room. The tumor or other type of lesion would be taken out, and then after we close, we would transport the patient to the MRI suite, maybe a day or two later. There is some irreversibility because everything is already closed. And if there's any abnormal tissue left behind, we would have to open up everything and remove that lesion. It's great technology that we now have, and I believe that there's no other place in South Florida that could provide this technology for the patients. [Baptist Health South Florida] [End Transcript]
