Cranial Nerve Examination Explained - Clinical Skills Deep Dive - Medical School Revision - Dr Gill The cranial nerve examination is probably one of the most challenging clinical examinations for medical students to master. Whilst it is it expected that the student will be able to competently perform the examination, in order to master the cranial nerves the students must also understand: The normal function of each cranial nerve What special tests are needed When there is an abnormality in a particular cranial nerve, what pathological features would be present. After some great feedback from the previous videos where I've tried dive deep into the underlying medicine, rather than producing one long video, I'm going to try and split the cranial nerve supplementary videos into this, highlighting what the cranial nerves are, and then a separate video where we will discuss the specifics of the actual examination Keep dropping the comments, and I'm really grateful for all the improvements people are providing, which is helping this channel to evolve - THANK YOU NB THERE ARE MEDICAL IMAGES CONTAINED WITHIN THIS VIDEO #CranialNerves #ClinicalExamination #neurology #asmr You can now consult via video or in person with Dr Gill at Dr Finlay’s Private Practice - https://www.drfinlays.co.uk/services/... 00:00 - Overview of Cranial Nerve Examination 01:00 - Challenges and Importance of Neurological Examinations 02:00 - Detailed Breakdown of Cranial Nerves: Olfactory Nerve (Cranial Nerve I) 03:00 - Visual Acuity and Fields: Optic Nerve (Cranial Nerve II) 04:00 - Eye Movement and Reflexes: Oculomotor, Trochlear, and Abducens Nerves (Cranial Nerves III, IV, VI) 05:00 - Facial Sensation and Reflexes: Trigeminal Nerve (Cranial Nerve V) 06:00 - Facial Expressions and Taste: Facial Nerve (Cranial Nerve VII) 07:00 - Hearing and Balance: Vestibulocochlear Nerve (Cranial Nerve VIII) 08:00 - Pharyngeal Sensation and Gag Reflex: Glossopharyngeal and Vagus Nerves (Cranial Nerves IX, X) 09:00 - Shoulder and Neck Movement: Accessory Nerve (Cranial Nerve XI) 10:00 - Tongue Movement: Hypoglossal Nerve (Cranial Nerve XII) 11:00 - Conclusion
