For quite a while, I had wanted to make a trip to the Crystal Bridges Museum. I had always been told how amazing the collection was, and that traveling exhibits held there were well worth experiencing. I do have some additional footage of the museum that I may put into a different video, but this video focuses on the KAWS Family exhibit. I had no idea that any of these works are going to be part of a special exhibit, so I was super hyped and extremely excited when I found that out the day I got to the museum. The only reason I didn’t add the additional footage I had filmed of the museum was that I had spent so much time in the exhibit, that I didn’t allocate for enough proper time to film and enjoy everything else the museum had to offer. The architecture and the surrounding natural areas are absolutely fantastic. There’s also a house on the grounds that is designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. I only managed to get exterior footage since no filming was allowed once you went inside. That was sort of a shame as I’m not joking, it felt like I was on the set of the Hobbit. because everything in there was definitely sized for someone of much shorter and slimmer stature than myself. But I’ll go more into that in a future video. I hope you enjoy the footage I got of KAWS’ wild and outstanding body of work. I’ve been a fan of his for quite a few years now, having discovered his work after I did a search for artists that were born in the same year in month as I was. [I know that sounds strange, but I have a fascination with understanding the progress and accomplishments of other professionals and creative fields that are my age. It’s born from a curiosity of the paths and thought processes that various individual individuals walk during the output of their careers.] KAWS (real name, Brian Donnelly), is a New York based American artist who creates across painting, sculpture, and releasing limited collectible figurines. He uses a particular technique of expression in his work called “subvertising” - originally done when he would remove advertisements from telephone booth and replace them with his own illustrations. Fundamentally it is a critique on consumerism through the aspect of cartooning. KAWS briefly worked for Disney after graduation as a freelance animator, painting backgrounds. He also worked on the animated series 101 Dalmatians, Daria, and Doug. =============================== Crystal Bridges Museum https://animeversefest.com/ KAWS https://kawsone.com ================================ Support the Channel: https://ko-fi.com/theartisanrogue Blog: http://theartisanrogue.blogspot.com/ TikTok: / theartisanrogue IG Artisan Rogue: / artisanrogue IG 80s Days Gone By: / 80sdaysgoneby FB: / theartisanrogue Stock Photography: https://www.dreamstime.com/theartisan...
