In this video tutorial from 2Dgameartguru.com, I will show you how to create a cut-out design of a tree of life. The design is created by using just basic shapes, the pen tool with the spiro path option, along with tapered strokes. I start with the base shapes, fill the design and then add decoration to it. Inkscape can be a little challenging when it comes to working around bugs [the taper effect has one of those known issues when the diamond nodes (used to adjust the extent of the taper) touch]. Saving often, being patient, and planning your design process [with a plan B in mind] helps. Most of the functionality shown in the video can be created with other software tools such as Affinity Designer, Adobe Illustrator, or CorelDraw with minor alterations and different names for the tools used.
