However, there are a number of additional ancillary arteries and veins that help support proper structure and functioning of the eyes. On this tutorial, we will be discussing the main arteries and veins of the orbit, including the internal carotid artery. The opthalmic artery is the first branch off of the internal carotid artery, located distal to the cavernous sinus. The central retinal artery, lacrimal artery, posterior ciliary arteries, supraorbital artery, muscular branches, posterior ethmoidal artery, anterior ethmoidal artery, palpebral arteries, frontal and dorsal nasal arteries and the infraorbital artery are also arteries of the orbit.
