After her Mom (50, F) and Dad (50, F) had an ugly divorce when OP was six years old, she then developed debilitating allergies and has been on medications ever since. Fast forward to the present day and OP is going for a day out with her father. They go to an ice cream place and OP discovers she has no allergic reaction. Dad looks confused, considering OP had told him of her history with allergies. After telling OP not to tell her mother, OP’s dad takes her to the doctor to get her checked out. After running some tests on OP the doctors think she is fine, but they take some blood samples just in case. OP has suspicions that the illness that’s held her back so long in life might not be all that it seems, so she turns to Reddit for help. In update one, OP’s father gets the reports back and discovers OP has no illness at all. He informs her of this, and they realize OP’s mom has been faking the illness to extort money from OP’s dad. OP’s dad tells OP not to take any more medication her mom gives her, or to spit out the pills if she can get away with it. In update two, OP’s father wants to expose his ex-wife, but he hatches a revenge plan that will involve OP. He knows his ex-wife is taking anti-anxiety and anti-depressant medication, so he tells OP to switch the medicine to some bipolar pills that will make OP’s mom hallucinate. In update three, OP switches out her mom’s pills with the bipolar medicine from her dad. OP’s mom begins exhibiting bizarre and abusive behavior, as the bipolar medicine is reacting especially poorly with her own medicine. OP begins documenting her mom’s behavior to build a case against her. In update four, OP’s dad decides to hire Herbert East (33, M) for a custody battle. All the evidence of OP’s mom’s instability is presented in court. Mom has a meltdown in court and begins to attack Dad. The judge dismisses the case and awards custody of OP to Dad. In update five, Mom has been committed to a psychiatric hospital after intentionally overdosing on her medicine. OP is living with Dad and is free from Mom’s abusive ways.
