I have to admit that this is the first Gibson SJ-100 I've ever played. Gibson records indicate that only 138 of these beautiful acoustic guitars were made before they were discontinued in 1942. It was the only 17" wide Mahogany back and sides flat top acoustic guitar that Gibson every made. They didn't make another one until the mid 1970s. I flew out to Missoula, Montana to buy this rare guitar unrepaired and uncirculated from the daughter of the original owner. I tried to film the Guitar Safari out to Abilene, Texas last week to buy the 1957 Fender Telecaster from the widow of the original owner but had a camera malfunction!
