(20 Jun 1996) T/I: 11:16:44 FE 10:29:57 A mass grave from World War II where up to 10,000 people were buried after being executed by the Nazis has been found near the Belarus capital of Minsk, a foreign ministry official said Thursday (20/6). The discovery was made recently by a woman tending her vegetable plot. A subsequent army search revealed more remains, surrounded by objects dating from around 1940. The grave is located near the site of a camp run by Nazi forces where, after they seized Minsk in June of 1941, the Nazis rounded up some 140,000 Soviet prisoners of war and civilians in the first days of the war.
