Honda to Build Electric Cars With Sony | South Korea News | NewsRme

With 2025, Honda plans to produce an electric vehicle designed by Sony. Unless you're a fan of Sony's Walkman audio player, don't make any Driveman jokes before reading this article. Until now, the relationship between the IT sector and this business has been rocky at best. When it recently unveiled the Vision-S 01 sedan and Vision-S 02 SUV concept cars, Sony made it obvious that it intended to produce electric automobiles. Sony, on the other hand, does not have the infrastructure or expertise to create automobiles, as company executives acknowledge, while Sony has previously said that it has no ambitions to manufacture any automobiles. Sony won't initially be producing any automobiles physically, thus past claims that the company wouldn't do so weren't entirely false. Instead, a new joint venture between Sony and Honda, branded simply "New Company," will get off the ground this year and see Honda develop an automobile for the electronics giant. "Plan, design, develop, and market" the electric vehicles, but not own and control the production facilities, is the major contrast between this New Company and Honda and Sony. At least for the first new vehicle to be released in 2025, Honda will be making the automobiles at its current production sites. A new "mobility service platform" is also likely to be provided by Sony, which we assume means a lovely infotainment package that includes driving assistance technologies.
