This is a Shona cultural recitation (Detembo) of the Gumbo/Msipa/Madyirapazhe Totem. It is presented in a complex concoction and yet powerful theatrical oral presentation of one of the most valued traditional practice of the African culture, (mitupo) or totems. The speech is a package rich in educative metaphors, a powerful method of knowledge sharing in the African culture. This particular scene happens to be at a burial ceremony of their loved one, where usually such performers voluntarily imitate a memorable 'Act' that reflects the deceased's legacy. Most importantly the presenter has a strong evangelical message, he reminds us that whatever the challenges in life, Jesus who died for our salvation at the Cross, is the answer.
