Fires are burning everywhere, literally and figuratively – and to weather the storms, we need to be in solidarity with each other. Even as our elected leaders make policy choices that fail to meet people’s basic needs, we are told time and again to blame migrants, trans people, people who use drugs and racialized people for the challenges communities across Canada face. Government budgets reveal the truth: resources are flowing toward military and policing, while health care, education, and social services face austerity and cuts. This is not how we build safe, thriving communities where everyone can access food, care, and housing. In this webinar, we examine the existential threats facing progressive movements, make the case for deep cross-movement solidarity, and share actionable solutions to course-correct our current trajectory. Speakers: Fae Johnstone – ED, Society of Queer Momentum DJ Larkin – ED, Canadian Drug Policy Coalition Y.Y. Chen, Migrant Health Legal Scholar, University of Ottawa Moderated by: Ayendri Riddell, BC Health Coalition
